Tee Off in Ireland
Ireland is known for its many shades of Green,
but perhaps our Greatest Greens are the ones you can tee off on!
There's a reason why golfers call Ireland "the green of dreams"…
Ireland may be a small island on the edge of Europe, but it’s a giant in the world of golf.
The island of Ireland is home to over 400 golf clubs, including a third of the world’s natural links courses, and exceptional championship courses in breathtaking locations. With world-class facilities set in stunning locations, Ireland's reputation in golf is unmatched. In Ireland, golf is deeply woven into the fabric of its heritage. Ireland’s Golf Courses range from historic links along rugged coastlines to modern parkland layouts in the countryside, offering a diverse golfing experience throughout the island. Many courses are known for their challenging designs, shaped by natural terrain and unpredictable Atlantic weather. Several of these courses are ranked among the best in the world, drawing players from across the globe to experience their beauty and difficulty.
It’s no surprise that Ireland has been named International Golf Destination of the Year multiple times in the past 20 years by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators. The country continues to strengthen its status as a premier golfing destination, with major events like The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush in 2025 and the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in 2027.
Most of Ireland’s golf courses, especially the links, are open year-round, but the best conditions for golfing are typically from April to October. During the summer, the long daylight hours—up to 10 p.m.—allow plenty of time for two rounds and a relaxing lunch. What makes golfing in Ireland even more special is that it's not just about the fairways; the island offers unforgettable off-course experiences, making it a fantastic destination for a golf trip. Next time you're planning to tee off, Ireland should definitely be at the top of your list!
Ireland offers golf courses suitable for all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner, an intermediate player, or a seasoned pro, you’ll find courses that cater to your needs. Many courses feature accessible layouts for newcomers, with shorter holes and less challenging designs. At the same time, there are world-renowned championship courses, like those at Ballybunion, Royal County Down, and Portmarnock, that provide a true test for advanced golfers. Plus, many clubs offer golf schools and practice facilities to help players of all levels improve their game.
From the challenging links courses shaped by the rugged coastline and unpredictable Atlantic weather to serene parkland courses nestled in picturesque countryside, every round feels special. Whether you're playing on a course steeped in history or a modern layout, golfing in Ireland is a memorable blend of sport, scenery, and rich tradition. So it’s easy to see why the island of Ireland attracts everyone from golf champions like Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods, to actors like Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, and Bill Murray. With its world-class courses and breathtaking locations, Ireland offers an unforgettable golfing experience.
